We do this as a part of our mission to collect, preserve and share the history and cultural heritage of Scott County. The Society specializes in interpreting and presenting twentieth century history.

The Scott County Historical Society...

• mentors college students and provides them with resume boosting experience,
• inspires elementary & high school students through hands-on programs and tours,
• offers public workshops - from learning how to preserve family treasures to building gingerbread houses,
• offers adult education opportunities through lectures-workshops-programs,
• provides fun volunteer opportunities,
• presents engaging, thought provoking exhibits on local history both onsite and throughout the county,
• maintains a professional archive, including monitoring environmental controls,
• manages an extensive research library,
• manages the Stans House, a historic house (1920s period),
• and museum garden.
