The Rice County Historical Society has in its collection a significant piece of history: the battle flag carried by Company C, Sixth Minnesota Volunteer Infantry, which included more than 60 men from Rice County. The flag was made in the winter of 1863 by the ladies of Fairmont, Minn., while Company C was stationed there.
