W. W. Mayo House
The stories of the Mayo Clinic and the Green Giant Company begin in this modest home, hand-built by W.W. Mayo in 1859. In 1874, Carson Nesbit Cosgrove moved into the home. He headed the Minnesota Valley Canning Company which later became the Green Giant Company.

As we travel across the state on the Museums of Minnesota adventure, we are uncovering a wealth of interesting.....   well, "things!"  - for want of a better word. Curiosities that we would like you our visitors to know about - but sites that are not museums. We have called this page "Monuments & Curiosities" but really it will be the home for anything and everything that we feel is noteworthy and certainly different.

Mousenik Launch Site

 In 1957 three Pacelli High School students launched a four-foot, 10-inch rocket into the air, with a rodent, named Ulysses, as its sole passenger, according to a 1957 AP report.  (read more)
