Description:

Gammelgarden (old farm) Museum was established in 1972 by Elim Lutheran Church to Preserve, Present and Promote Swedish Immigrant Heritage.  This collection of 5 historic buildings dating back to the 1850's tell the story of immigration in the St Croix Valley of Minnesota.  Each building is full of artifacts and represents one of the first Swedish communities to establish itself in Minnesota.  The buildings are shown as they were in 1856.  The GammelKyrkan or old church is the oldest remaining Lutheran Church in Minnesota. Gammelgarden Museum also features a focus exhibit for 2011 in our welcome center: InGrained in the Culture:  Swedish Woodworking.  This exhibit is free to the public.  School Tours and Field Trips are popular at Gammelgarden Museum.  Visit our website for more information at www.gammelgardenmuseum.org.
